Visualizing the World Through Geometry

Geometry is the study of shapes, sizes, and the properties of space. From construction to interior design, geometry formulas help us measure the physical world.

1. 2D Shapes (Area and Perimeter)

The perimeter is the distance around the outside, while the area is the space inside.

  • Rectangle:

    • Perimeter = 2(l + w)

    • Area = l \cdot w

  • Circle:

    • Circumference = 2\pi r

    • Area = \pi r^2

  • Triangle:

    • Area = \frac{1}{2} \cdot \text{base} \cdot \text{height}

2. 3D Shapes (Volume and Surface Area)

When we move to the third dimension, we calculate Volume (how much it holds).

  • Cube: Volume = s^3

  • Cylinder: Volume = \pi r^2 h

  • Sphere: Volume = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

3. The Pythagorean Theorem

In a right-angled triangle, the relationship between the sides is:

 a^2 + b^2 = c^2

This is the most famous formula in geometry and is used in navigation and GPS technology.
